Gameplay, RTP and Variance

9/10

xWays Hoarder xSplit is a very volatile game, classified as ‘extreme’ and a 10/10 for this attribute by Nolimit City. As a result, the gameplay may throw up long winless runs before players see a payout, although these wins may be on the larger side.

The RTP of this slot sits just above average at 96.14%. That means on average, over millions of spins, €96.14 of every €100 wagered is returned to players. However, this won’t be noticeable during an individual playing session in the way that the volatility will.

Overall, xWays Hoarder xSplit offers some highly enjoyable and exciting gameplay. The extreme volatility is one thing, but there’s also the shapeshifting reels, big multiplied wins, and impressive graphics to ensure there’s never a dull moment playing this slot.

Licence and Audit

Nolimit City is licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). As such, all its games — including xWays Hoarder xSplit — have been audited to ensure regulatory compliance relating to fairness and responsible gambling.

Nolimt City’s slots also feature a wide range of sites that are licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), one of the industry’s most trusted and prominent regulators. Both the MGA and UKGC work with reliable games testers such as eCOGRA and Gaming Laboratories.

Bonus Features

8/10

Besides the xWays and xSplit Wild features, there are a couple of additional free spins bonus features up for grabs in this slot.

Bunker Raid Spins

This free spins bonus is triggered by landing three or four scatter symbols on one spin. You’ll get either 7 or 10 free spins depending on the number of scatters. Any scatters that don’t get split by the xSplit wild become Super Scatters — these symbols and the positions directly below them become sticky xWays symbols, as do any new xWays symbols that land on the reels, locking in place for however many free spins you have left.

Each time you collect three xWays symbols during this bonus round, you’ll level up. Starting at level one, you can make it to level three. Each time you move up, the lowest value symbol is removed from play, increasing the likelihood of larger wins and making it easier to land winning combos. Once you get to the top level you’ll have just four high-paying symbols left in play.

Wasteland Free Spins

Level four of the bonus round is the Wasteland Free Spins feature. Free spins from the Bunker Raid round are carried over and you’ll still have just four high-paying spins in play. The nine xWays symbols on the middle three reels combine to create a mega symbol and potentially bring some big wins as you play through the remaining free spins.

These bonus rounds certainly up the ante, creating huge win potential of up to 11,030x your bet, all the while developing the nuclear wasteland theme that bit further. That said, you’ll find larger maximum wins in some of Nolimit City’s other slots — San Quentin xWays offers up to 150,000x your bet and Fire in the Hole xBomb 60,000x.

Mobile and Tablet Experience

9/10

xWays Hoarder xSplit has been built with HTML5, so it’s smack bang up-to-date and compatible with all devices. The gaming experience is up to scratch on both desktop and mobile, so you can enjoy top of the range graphics and smooth animations however you like to play.

How Does it Compare to Other Nolimit City Titles?

Although xWays Hoarder xSplit is an extremely volatile game with plenty of big wins up for grabs, its maximum payout of 11,030x your stake pales in comparison to some of Nolimit City’s other titles. San Quentin xWays, for example, has a max win of 150,000x, while Fire in the Hole xBomb offers 60,000x.

So, should you play these games instead? What’s important to remember is that the maximum win doesn’t tell the full story — far from it, in fact. Nolimit City states that the maximum payout is won, on average, every one in 14 million spins. Clearly then, it would be unwise to pick a game solely based on such an unlikely jackpot.

What each of these games does offer is excellent graphics, immersive gameplay, and a great range of bonus features. And, considering they’re all highly volatile, you’re best off picking the one with the theme that excites you the most — whether it’s mining, death row, or a trusty nuclear apocalypse.

How Does it Compare to Other Slots on the Market?

Since we know what to expect from these highly volatile, expertly designed, and feature-filled Nolimit City slots, what about the rest of the market? The huge number of paylines in xWays Hoarder xSplit is reminiscent of Megaways slots, of which there are many from a variety of top developers.

Like this Nolimit City classic, Pragmatic Play’s Madame Destiny Megaways was also released in 2021, features high volatility gameplay, and has over 200,000 active paylines. The RTP rates are also similar, although Madame Destiny just shades it with 96.56%. The maximum win is much lower, however, at just 5,000x the stake.

The clear difference between these games in our view are the graphics. Pragmatic Play is one of the industry’s top developers, but in a straight shoot-out virtually any of Nolimit City’s slots would blow Madame Destiny away in terms of the animations and design. Still, the latter offers several fun bonus features and a charming fortune teller theme — at the end of the day, it’s all about what appeals to you.

Design, Graphics and Sound

9/10

Nolimit City is well known for its high quality graphics and unique designs, so it’s no surprise xWays Hoarder xSplit is so impressive in this department. The game comes with a nuclear apocalypse theme and features a select group of survivors who have stayed alive by hoarding goods.

There’s a comic book feel to the imagery which is executed perfectly, featuring essentials like loo rolls, bottles of Mountain Dew, a first aid kit, a Geiger counter, and petrol cans. This is all tied together with an energetic, impactful soundtrack featuring rock and roll hits and gnarly sound effects.

Expanse Studios’ Zombie Apocalypse slot offers a similar vibe and equally intriguing characters, although the nuclear angle deployed in xWays Hoarder xSplit gives it the edge in terms of originality.

Summary

8.8/10

Nolimit City has produced a real winner here. We’re hugely impressed with the execution of the unique theme and exhilarating bonus features. The extreme volatility won’t be suited to all players, but if you’re happy to take some risks in the hunt for a jackpot then you’re bound to have fun playing this game.

That said, the max win of 11,030x is on the low side, but there are lots of opportunities to land big prizes thanks to the xWays mechanic, xSplit Wilds, and the free spins up for grabs in the bonus round. Ultimately, xWays Hoarder xSplit nails the balance between quirkiness and intensity — it’s hard not to get dragged into the apocalyptic mindset, but you’ll certainly have lots of fun along the way.

Play xWays Hoarder xSplit at One of These Top Casinos

Here’s a taster of three of our favourite online casinos that feature Nolimit City’s xWays Hoarder xSplit.

888casino

It didn’t take long for me to get sucked into the excitement of 888casino. It’s easy to see why it’s established itself as such a big name — there are over 1,600 slot games on offer on the site, so even the brilliant xWays Hoarder xSplit has stiff competition. I love the fact that you can filter slots by volatility, features, jackpots, themes, and game studios. It’s never been easier to find games that are exactly to my liking. 888casino also offers a stellar welcome offer, as new players can claim a 100% deposit bonus up to €200 when they sign up and deposit at least €20. Unfortunately, there is a 30x wagering requirement attached, but I’ve seen worse elsewhere.

National Casino

Although we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, it’s hard not to get swept away by the classy exterior of National Casino. The gold and black theme gives the site a premium feel, complemented by the cartoon illustrations of our favourite detectives. I was impressed by the range of promotions up for grabs here too. New customers can claim two deposit bonuses — the first is a 100% deposit match up to €100 plus 100 free spins for Avalon: The Lost Kingdom. On the second run, you can get a 50% bonus up to €200 plus 50 free spins for the Johnny Cash slot. After that, players can pick up further free spins every Monday and a reload bonus every Friday — what’s not to like?

20Bet

20Bet is perhaps best known as an online sportsbook, so I was excited to check out its online casino offering. The games library certainly didn’t disappoint — xWays Hoarder xSplit is joined by a vibrant collection of slots from an enormous range of developers. The best part is, you can browse the games offered by each provider to easily find similar titles to your favourites. I was impressed by the welcome offer here too, there’s a 100% bonus up for grabs on the first deposit plus 120 free spins. On the second deposit, I was able to claim a further 50% deposit bonus plus 50 free spins for Great Rhino Megaways. With regular reload bonuses and Drops & Wins up for grabs, the fun never stops at 20Bet.
