Editorial Policy

Updated for April 2024

Our editorial policy is the code we follow to ensure our all reviews are impartial and honest, with the goal of being as useful to our users as possible. Check our editorial policy and then read our reviews to find your next online casino!

Why Did We Create our Editorial Policy?

We believe it is of the utmost importance to ensure the same high standard is maintained across all of our content. That’s why we created our editorial policy to govern everything our content team produces, from casino and slot reviews to news content and guides.

This policy guides our in-house writing team as well as our external contributors and ensures that all content produced is honest, unbiased, and factually correct.

Why is it Important?

We understand how important it is for casino players to have a trusted resource providing information on casinos and games. We know that what you need is the facts as they are, without spin or exaggeration. We don’t want our reviews to mislead anyone or point players in the wrong direction, and that’s why we will never put a positive spin on reviews. Everything stays 100% honest at all times.

What is our Editorial Policy?

Our editorial policy states that all of our guide content and reviews written and published on our website must be truthful, impartial, and unbiased. Our reviews are not – and will never be – influenced by any organisation or individual associated with the online casino or slot game that is being reviewed.

We are also committed to presenting online gambling and its risks with the respect our users deserve, and work hard to ensure our work never inflates your chances of winning or inspires you to make decisions against your best interests. Our commitment to responsible gambling is evident across our key pages, with readily-available information on safe gambling practices, the warning signs of problem gambling and addiction, and where you can find help if you or someone you know is having trouble with gambling responsibly.

How Do We Review Irish Online Casinos?

Here’s a breakdown of the factors we assess whilst reviewing Irish online casinos.

  • Licensing, and Safety

Our editorial policy dictates that we can only review casinos that carry licences from trusted regulators, such as the UK Gaming Commission (UKGC) and Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).

  • Game Selection

In line with our editorial policy, our reviewers study the selections of games and software developers and then give an honest opinion based on what’s on offer and how it compares to other online casinos.

  • User Experience

User experience is everything presented from the second you open up an online casino. Games, promotions, design, customer service, payment methods, presentation and functionality all come under this bracket, with the main interest being how effective the full experience is. Our editorial policy states we give a comprehensive and honest review of the entire user experience.

  • Bonuses and Promotions

Our editorial policy ensures bonuses are reviewed without bias. This includes comparing the amounts – matched deposit amount, free spins amount, etc. – with promotions from other online casinos, as well as wagering requirements, caps on winnings, and other potential bonus terms.

  • Terms and Conditions

In line with our editorial policy, our reviewers comb through the terms and conditions attached to deposits, withdrawals, bonuses, winnings, and more to check they are fair and reasonable. We will also compare these terms to other online casinos to see how they stack up against the competition.

  • Deposit and Withdrawal Methods

We believe that an online casino in the modern era should offer a good selection of trustworthy deposit and withdrawal methods. This should include debit cards (Mastercard, Visa, etc.), e-wallets (Neteller, PayPal, Skrill, etc.), prepaid cards (Paysafecard), and other methods (pay by phone, cheque, etc.). If a casino does not measure up to our expectations in this area, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Andy is a longstanding contributor at TopRatedCasinos.ie, with a wealth of iGaming experience. He rigorously gives our readers the facts in an objective and unbiased way while maintaining a strong focus on responsible gambling.

Based in Portugal, Andy traded the drizzly world of Manchester for the much more agreeable Lisbon climate. He began his writing career as a contributor for a bilingual newspaper in Spain before moving to the UK Midlands and starting a music magazine. While he was there, he also picked up a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and Journalism from De Montfort University.

Over more than a decade of experience in the gambling industry, Andy has undertaken thousands of slot and casino reviews and his work has been published on multiple high-profile iGaming sites. When Andy joined us at TopRatedCasinos.ie, he was pleased to join a team of like-minded individuals who were committed to an honest and player-first approach to writing, just as he is.

Music is another of Andy’s passions — he’s been learning guitar for 30 years and playing in bands across the UK. No genre is off limits when it comes to his taste, with Americana, grime, and hard rock often appearing side by side on playlists. Although Andy is the first to admit his listening habits have softened as he’s got older, he still wears his metal roots on his sleeve, or rather, his head!
